Shaun Wade is now a consensus All-American.
Wade, a fourth-year junior cornerback, was named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, along with fourth-year junior guard Wyatt Davis, who was already a consensus All-American. Fifth-year senior defensive end Jonathon Cooper picked up his first All-American nod from AFCA as a second-team member.
The Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year, Wade, became a consensus All-American for being named to either the first or second team by the Sporting News (first team), Associated Press (first team), American Football Coaches Association (first team) or Football Writers Association of America (second team).
Davis guaranteed himself consensus first-team All-America accolades due to qualifying for the nation’s top team per the Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News and Football Coaches Association. The projected first-round pick has helped pave the way for the No. 5 rushing offense in the country at 275.6 yards per game.
Cooper leads all Buckeye defensive linemen with 20 tackles (nine solo) and has added 2.5 tackles for loss (TFL), 2.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries and one pass breakup.
The two-time captain at defensive end has helped Ohio State to be stout against the run, ranking No. 7 in the nation and allowing only 96.7 yards rushing per game.
Across his career in scarlet and gray, Cooper has posted 71 tackles (41 solo), nine sacks, 14 TFL, two fumble recoveries, two quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one blocked kick in 43 games.
