Ohio State has yet another big weekend of official visits lined up for the 2027 class, with two five-star players set to be on campus and multiple other top recruits who would be big additions to the class.
One of the five-star recruits who is scheduled to be in Columbus this weekend is edge rusher DJ Jacobs, who has been committed to Ohio State since December.
While Jacobs is currently in the class for the Buckeyes, they will need to do everything in their power to hold onto his commitment, with multiple other schools trying to flip him, including Miami, Oregon and Texas A&M.
Jacobs doesn’t have any other official visits scheduled, but Ohio State will still be trying to show him why he shouldn’t change his mind when he’s in Columbus this weekend.
The other five-star player on campus this weekend will be wide receiver Monshun Sales of Lawrence North in Indianapolis. He is the No. 8 prospect in the country, and if the Buckeyes are able to come out on top in his recruitment, he would be the second five-star receiver in the class, along with Jamier Brown, who has been committed to Ohio State since December of 2024.
However, there is a lot of competition for the No. 2 receiver in the class, with Indiana, Alabama, Texas and Miami all getting official visits from Sales as well. The Buckeyes are his penultimate visit with only the Hurricanes left to go after he leaves Columbus.
Being from Indiana, Sales could have the Hoosiers coming after him hard now that they have quickly become a top team in college football after a 16-0 national championship-winning season last year.
Perhaps the next most important recruit on campus this weekend will be Cincinnati Princeton’s Monsanna Torbert Jr., who recently decommitted from Indiana and views Ohio State as Michigan as two of his top choices. The Wolverines are set to get an official visit from Torbert next weekend.
The four-star was on campus early at Ohio State, and watched the Buckeyes’ one-day recruiting camp held on Thursday. He detailed what’s most important in his recruitment at this point when he spoke to media.
“Development is the No. 1 (thing),” Torbert said. “I want to make sure that whatever school I’m going to, I have the best plan to get developed. I want a contract in the NFL, so that’s really what I’m looking to see, which school can develop me to be a first- or second-round draft pick.”
The Buckeyes are also set to host four-star offensive tackle Caden Moss, who would be a major addition to what is already a solid offensive line group.
It was confirmed by Buckeye Sports Bulletin that Kellen Wymer, Jimmy Kalis, Davis Seaman, Brody McNeel and Mason Wilt moved their official visits up one week so that they would all be on campus with Moss.
Moss is ranked as the No. 72 player in the country and the No. 7 offensive tackle. He has already visited LSU, Tennessee, Oregon and Kentucky and is set to visit Ole Miss next weekend.
Deontay Malone is another four-star cornerback set to be on campus along with Torbert. Malone has already been in East Lansing to visit Michigan State, and Ohio State is the only other official visit he has scheduled.
Out of Massillon, Ohio, Malone is ranked as the No. 284 prospect in the country and the No. 33 cornerback.
Then, the Buckeyes will also be hosting four-star linebacker commit Quinton Cypher, who seems to be locked in with Ohio State. But with no other linebackers on campus this weekend, position coach James Laurinaitis will surely make it so the Buckeyes can continue to not have any concern about Cypher’s commitment to the class.
