After a 13-game win streak in the beginning of the season, the women’s hockey team is putting together another win streak which is now up to seven games and counting.
Not only have they been winning, but they have been winning in big ways, beating No. 2 Minnesota in a two-game series by a combined score of 13-1. After that, head coach Nadine Muzerall became the winningest coach in program history with a 3-0 win over Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 19. With 179 wins in eight seasons, she passed Jackie Barto who coached the Buckeyes for the first 12 seasons of the program.
They visit St. Cloud State over the weekend for two games, the team which ended the Buckeyes first win streak earlier this season.
Men’s Volleyball Off To Undefeated Start
After winning its first three games, Ohio State has rattled off three more wins, each of them over ranked teams. The Buckeyes beat No. 17 UC San Diego 3-2 then went down to Austin, Texas for the First Point Collegiate Challenge. They started that off with a win over the No. 1 team in the country UCLA with a 3-2 win.
Jacob Pasteur had 23 kills in that game with 46 assists from Michael Wright. They went on to beat No. 13 USC. Those two wins were enough to slingshot them up to No. 1 in the country.
Another challenge lies on the horizon for Ohio State with No. 9 Penn State coming to Columbus for a game before the Buckeyes head to University Park, Pa. for another game against the Nittany Lions just three days later.
Men’s Tennis Also Yet To Lose
The Buckeyes are off to a 4-0 start and still haven’t given up a point, beating Eastern Illinois 7-0, Xavier 7-0, Northern Kentucky 4-0 and Toledo 7-0. Ohio State is now ranked No. 1 in the nation, making it the seventh straight year the men’s tennis team has been ranked top in the country at some point.
Next up is the ITA Kickoff Weekend when they match up against Vanderbilt on Jan. 27 at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus, and either Oregon or Boise State on Jan. 28.
