Ohio State men’s basketball made multiple changes to its coaching staff, which were all announced by head coach Jake Diebler on Monday.

Diebler announced the addition of strength and conditioning coach Dave Richardson, who held the same position with the Buckeyes from 2005-17 under former head coach Thad Matta. The Buckeyes are also adding former Buckeye William Buford as a program analyst and promoted Jamall Walker to associate head coach.

Richardson spent the last eight seasons at Arkansas under coaches Eric Musselman and John Calipari. Before his first stint at OSU, he was at Miami (Fla.), where he was the strength and conditioning coach for multiple programs.

Buford joins the Ohio State staff in his first coaching role after having spent 12 seasons playing professional basketball, almost all of which was spent overseas.

He first spent four seasons as a player with the Buckeyes, earning All-Big Ten honors three times and finishing his college career as the No. 3 scorer in OSU men’s basketball history, tying Jerry Lucas’ 1,990 points. He was passed last year by Bruce Thornton.

Walker is in his third season with the Buckeyes after being hired by Diebler when he got the job. In the last two seasons, he has helped oversee an OSU program that has gone 38-28 and made it back to the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2022.

Walker was promoted after former associate head coach Joel Justus left the program over the offseason to join the Vanderbilt staff.

Diebler also officially announced the addition of former NBA assistant coach Mike Wells to the staff.
