Seventeen months after he suffered a devastating spinal injury in which doctors told him he had a 20 percent chance of walking again, former Ohio State and current Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier danced with his wife at their wedding on Saturday.

In a video shared on Twitter over the weekend, Shazier and Michelle Williams can be seen waving their arms in the air while dancing to โ€œThis Is How We Do Itโ€ by Montell Jordan.

The 26-year-old Shazier has been sidelined since December 2017, having suffered the injury during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s made tremendous progress in the meantime thanks to a grueling rehabilitation program and has maintained that he wants to eventually play football again.

โ€œIโ€™ve been working my tail off every single day, so I have that in the back of my mind every single time I go to rehab,โ€ Shazier said. โ€œI just try to stay positive every day, so Iโ€™m just trying to do everything I can to get back.โ€

The Steelers placed Shazier, the No. 15 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and two-time Pro Bowler, on the reserve/physically unable to perform listย  in March, but he remains on the active roster. He will earn a salary commensurate with his years of service to the NFL, continue to accrue seasons toward his playersโ€™ pension and receive the same medical insurance coverage as all active players.
