Ohio State women’s basketball associate head coach Patrick Klein resigned in a letter to the university.

The Department of Athletics released the following statement:

“Ohio State is investigating allegations of violations of NCAA rules and university policy within the women’s basketball program. The university has notified the NCAA. On Friday, July 26, Klein was placed on administrative leave while the university investigates. Ohio State is working diligently to conclude its review of this matter.”

While the university has not yet released further information regarding the investigation, it appears Klein may have been at fault, apologizing in his letter of resignation.

“Over the course of the past two weeks it has come to my attention that some of my actions as a coach have not adhered strictly to NCAA rules,” Klein wrote.

“I’ve also been made aware that in some instances, my communications with some student-athletes may have been too informal or in some cases even in appropriate, violating university policy.”

Buckeye Sports Bulletin will have more on this story as it develops.
