Ohio State will officially kick off its matchup against Texas at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC on Sept. 12 in Austin, the network announced Tuesday evening.
Ohio State and Texas have had season-defining encounters in each of the last two seasons, with the Buckeyes taking both matchups.
Ohio State first defeated Texas 28-14 in the College Football Playoff semifinal two seasons ago, a game sealed by defensive end Jack Sawyer’s 83-yard scoop-and-score that sent the Buckeyes to the national championship, which they ultimately claimed over Notre Dame.
The Buckeyes then defeated the Longhorns 14-7 in the first game of the season a year ago at Ohio Stadium, a game that ultimately was part of Texas being left out of the CFP.
ESPN’s “College GameDay” will also be held in Austin for the Buckeyes’ and Longhorns’ clash.
