Ohio State Offensive Lineman Victor Cutler Jr. Enters Transfer Portal After One Season With Buckeyes

Ohio State offensive lineman Victor Cutler Jr., who transferred to the Buckeyes last offseason, is now back in the portal after just one season at Ohio State, according to several reports.

Cutler arrived in January after transferring from Louisiana-Monroe, and he was expected to compete with redshirt freshman Carson Hinzman and redshirt junior Jakob James for Ohio State’s open center position. Cutler – who had previously started at left and right tackle as well as center at Louisiana-Monroe – ended up losing the job, however, which Hinzman retained throughout the season.

As a backup, Cutler appeared in only five games this season for Ohio State. And by the end of the regular season, the Buckeyes had experimented with shifting right guard Matthew Jones over to center in case a change was needed from Hinzman, indicating Cutler had further fallen down the depth chart. And with just one season of eligibility remaining, a starting job was likely not in the cards for Cutler next season.

Cutler is the third Buckeye to announce their intention to enter the transfer portal, joining defensive end Omari Abor and safety Cameron Martinez.
