Ohio State junior guard Wyatt Davis earned consensus first-team All-American status after being named to the first-team by the Football Writers Association of America, or FWAA.
Davis was the lone Ohio State player to make it on the first team, making him 3 for 3 on first-team selections thus far. He can earn unanimous status from a first-team honor by the American Football Coaches Association and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, who have not yet released their lists.
Junior cornerback Shaun Wade was named to the second-team after first-team placements by the Associated Press and Sporting News, and just needs one more first-team spot to earn consensus status.
Davis, a former five-star prospect from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, has started 21 consecutive games for the Ohio State, who is averaging 275.7 yards per game on the ground this season. He was named the Big Ten’s offensive lineman of the year and helped Ohio State’s offensive line become a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.
Wade, another former five-star prospect from Jacksonville Trinity Christian, has recorded 16 tackles, three pass breakups and two interceptions this season, including one that he returned for a touchdown against Indiana.
Also on the second-team was sophomore wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who has tallied 38 receptions for 621 yards and five touchdowns. He also has two carries for 67 yards with a long of 62.
