Ohio State added a fourth transfer portal pledge of the offseason when former Memphis guard Curtis Givens III committed to the Buckeyes on April 23.

Givens brings two years of eligibility to Ohio State after having spent his freshman season with LSU before transferring to Memphis. He has played in 57 games in two seasons and averaged 6.8 points, 1.9 assists and 1.9 rebounds.

His best season was last year with the Tigers when he averaged 9.4 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game in 25.6 minutes per contest. He started in 15 of the 25 games he played in.

Givens joins former Cal guard Justin Pippen, former Duquesne guard Jimmie Williams and former Kentucky big man Andrija Jelavic as transfer additions for the Buckeyes this offseason.

The Buckeyes guard depth is beginning to fill out after Bruce Thornton left due to his eligibility running out and Gabe Cupps, Taison Chatman and Mathieu Grujicic leaving through the transfer portal.

It would also be massively helped by the return of John Mobley Jr., who is testing the NBA draft waters and left open the possibility that he could return to Ohio State. He doesn’t seem to be gaining much traction in mock drafts, so it seems very likely that he will be a Buckeye again next season.

Ohio State also returns Amare Bynum from the starting lineup last year and adds incoming freshman forward Anthony Thompson, a five-star player out of Ohio.
