Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann announced the addition of Justice Sueing to the 2019-20 roster Wednesday.

Sueing is a 6-7, 215-pound forward from Honolulu, who played the last two seasons at California before choosing to transfer. He will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will presumably have the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons as his final two years of eligibility.

“We are excited about the addition of Justice to our program,” Holtmann said. “He brings experience, positional versatility, ability to score as well as a natural ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. He is hungry to continue to grow and develop as a player.

“This upcoming season where he will sit out, will be important for his overall growth. We were really impressed with his maturity in recruiting him and we believe his experiences his first two years in college are going to benefit him moving forward here at Ohio State.”

Originally a Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei 2017 three-star recruit, Sueing signed with the Golden Bears as the 247Sports composite’s No. 171 overall prospect, No. 45 power forward and No. 19 player in California.

The Honolulu native came to Cal ready to play, starting all but one game as a freshman, averaging 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds across 32 games.

Sueing improved as a sophomore, averaging a team-high 14.7 points and 6.0 rebounds, while playing 34.5 minutes per contest. He added 61 assists and a team-high 52 steals, while shooting 78.2 (129 of 165) from the free-throw line.

Throughout his two seasons in Berkeley, Calif., Sueing shot 43.3 percent (297 of 686) from the field and 30.7 percent (77 for 251) from three-point range.

Holtmann added his second sit-one transfer in as many years, having brought in Florida State’s CJ Walker (6-1, 195), who will make his Buckeye debut this fall, in April 2018.

In addition to Sueing, Ohio State signed four incoming freshmen to its 2019 recruiting class — Bettendorf (Iowa) four-star point guard DJ Carton (6-1, 190), Belleville (Ill.) West four-star power forward EJ Liddell, Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy four-star small forward Alonzo Gaffney (6-9, 190) and Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep three-star center Ibrahima Diallo (7-0, 200).

The Buckeyes’ recruiting class ranked No. 12 in the nation, per the 247Sports composite team rankings.
