Former Ohio State offensive lineman Ethan Onianwa was selected with the No. 232 overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Onianwa began his career at Rice in 2021 as a three-star tackle prospect out of Katy Cinco Ranch in Texas. After a redshirt campaign in 2021, where he played in three games as a true freshman, Onianwa saw action in 37 games over the next three seasons, including 34 starts.

Onianwa transferred to Ohio State for his final season of eligibility, but was unable to earn a starting position at tackle, with Austin Siereveld and Minnesota transfer Phillip Daniels taking the role.

Onianwa was also given the chance to play at right tackle or slide inside to right guard, where there were battles for the starting spot as well, but he was unable to earn a role there, either.

Early in the season, Onianwa was tried out as a rotational piece at right guard with Tegra Tshabola, but as the year went on he was phased out of the rotation and lost his playing time.

While the 6-7, 331-pound tackle failed to earn a starting role at Ohio State, he will now have the opportunity to compete in an Atlanta offensive tackle group that includes new teammates Jake Matthews, Jawaan Taylor, Michael Jerrell, Storm Norton and Jack Nelson.

Onianwa was the 11th Buckeye selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
