Former Ohio State running back CJ Donaldson Jr. has signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent following the end of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Donaldson began his collegiate career at West Virginia as a three-star tight end prospect in the class of 2022 out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Fla.

At West Virginia, the 6-2, 232-pound Donaldson quickly transitioned to running back and spent three seasons in that role from 2022-24.

In that three-year stretch, Donaldson was productive for the Mountaineers both on the ground and as a threat out of the backfield. He totaled 517 carries for 2,419 yards and 40 touchdowns on the ground, adding another 47 receptions for 286 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.

Donaldson then transferred to Ohio State for his senior season and had a productive year as one of Ohio State’s top backs alongside Bo Jackson and Isaiah West, recording 96 totes for 361 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, along with 15 catches for 96 yards and a score.

He will now join a Saints running back room that features Travis Etienne Jr., Alvin Kamara, Ty Chandler and Kendre Miller.
