The 2024 NFL Draft is still 11 months away, but that gap does not stop analysts from taking a look at how some potential Ohio State picks might fare.
According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, four Buckeyes are considered among the best at their positions for next year’s draft, including several on the offensive side of the ball.
Starting at running back, Miller considers TreVeyon Henderson and Wisconsin’s Braylon Allen as the top tailbacks in the class, though he ultimately landed on Allen as the top running back.
“Henderson will have competition in his own backfield, though, with Miyan Williams sharing touches,” Miller wrote. “Allen, meanwhile, will be the focal point of new coach Luke Fickell’s offense in Madison.”
There was no question about Ohio State’s talent at wide receiver, with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka considered the best wideouts in the draft. The duo combined for 2,414 yards and 24 touchdowns last season, and even with a new starter at quarterback this year, expectations remain high.
The lone defensive pick for the Buckeyes was safety Lathan Ransom, who was considered tops at his position along with USC safety Calen Bullock.
“Bullock will be tested by Ransom, though,” Miller wrote. “At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, he has the size and strength to hang with tight ends and monitor the middle of the field. He also grabbed an interception and notched 74 tackles last season, and he looked great against Georgia (nine tackles) in the College Football Playoff.”
