Fessler Visits Three-Star 2027 QB

Ohio State has continued to keep its eye out for a second quarterback in the 2027 class, and the latest signal caller on the radar for quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler is three-star Dane Weber, Adam Gorney of Rivals reported.

The Buckeye coach went out to Chaparral High School in Temecula, Calif., early in the week to watch Weber throw. Weber is one of many QBs in the class that Fessler has visited since OSU spring practices ended.

Weber, at 6-1, 220, is rated by 247Sports composite rankings as the No. 466 player in the country and the No. 27 quarterback.

According to 247Sports, Weber has two official visits scheduled at this point. He is set to get to Michigan on June 11 and UCLA on June 19.

The Buckeyes still have four-star Brady Edmunds in the fold in the 2027 class. He was recently visited at his school by UCLA, as well as Northwestern offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

2028 Edge Includes OSU In Top Six

The Buckeyes were included in the top six for five-star defensive end Jalanie George, who is the sixth-ranked player in the 2028 class and the second-best edge rusher.

Ohio State was included alongside Auburn, Florida, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma and Washington.

At Desert Edge High School in his sophomore season, George finished with 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two passes broken up and a forced fumble. That was after a freshman season in which he had 63 tackles, 11 for loss, five sacks, two passes broken up, an interception and two forced fumbles.

The Buckeyes already hold two commitments in the 2028 class from four-star edge rusher Jameer Whyce and four-star running back Elijah Newman-Hall. There is still a long way to go before George’s recruitment is officially over, but OSU stands in a good spot early on.

Buckeyes Offer Brother Of Browns First Rounder

Ohio State got involved in the recruitment of four-star offensive tackle Taio Fano on Tuesday, he posted on social media.

Fano is the brother of former Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano, who was selected by the Cleveland Browns in April with the ninth pick of the NFL draft. His oldest brother, Logan Fano, is a defensive end at Utah.

Taio Fano is the 75th-ranked player in the 2028 class and the 10th-ranked offensive tackle, playing at Orem High School in Utah.

The Buckeyes are the latest of 24 Division I offers, which include Michigan, UCLA and Utah, among many other power conference schools.

Jett Harrison Atop Rivals 300 Rankings

The younger brother of former Buckeye wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., Jett Harrison, was listed in the latest Rivals 300 rankings as the No. 1 overall player in the 2028 class.

Harrison plays the same position as his older brother and their father, Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr. By 247Sports composite rankings, Jett Harrison is the No. 7 player in the class and the No. 2 wide receiver.

At St. Joseph’s Prep, the same high school Marvin Harrison Jr., Kyle McCord and current Buckeye Isaiah West went, Jett Harrison recorded 10 touchdowns in his freshman season. He upped that to 15 scores as a sophomore in the 2025 season.

The Buckeyes offered the youngest Harrison in May 2025 when Brian Hartline was still the wide receivers coach at Ohio State. Hartline has since left to be the head coach at South Florida, but since Marvin Harrison Jr. had a strong career in Columbus, the Buckeyes are still likely on Jett’s radar.
