Columbus will play host to two first round games and a second-round meeting in both the NCAA men’s and women’s tennis tournament this weekend. Both respective Ohio State teams will get to have home matches to start their tourney at Auer Tennis Complex.

Ohio State’s men’s team remains on a quest for an elusive first NCAA Outdoor National Championship, having won multiple ITA Indoor Championships across program history. Being the No. 3 team overall, OSU earned a No. 1 seed in the 64-team bracket and will face 16th-seeded East Tennessee State at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Eighth-seeded Louisville and ninth-seeded Texas Tech face off in Columbus earlier that morning at 10 a.m., with the winner taking on the victor of OSU/ETSU at noon Sunday.

The Buckeyes enter with a 29-2 record against the 12-13 Buccaneers, who secured a bid to the tourney by winning the Southern Conference Tournament. Ohio State captured its record-setting 17th consecutive Big Ten regular season title earlier this year, and won the Big Ten Tournament for the 15th time.

Ohio State women’s tennis landed a berth as the No. 10 overall seed in the women’s tournament, making them a three-seed in their region. With a 20-7 overall record on the season the Buckeyes will meet Big East Champion and 14th-seeded Xavier (14-7) Friday at 1 p.m.

A spot in the second round against the winner of Vanderbilt and East Tennessee State will be on the line for the Buckeyes and Musketeers.
