Fourth-year women’s golfer Caley McGinty picked up some conference-wide recognition Wednesday.

The Big Ten named McGinty its Women’s Golfer of the Week, the first such honor of her career. She posted a three-round score of 215 (-1) at the Jim West Challenge this past weekend, finishing in a tie for 17th out of 79 participants.

Her efforts bolstered Ohio State to a team score of +5, good for a tie for seventh at the 15-team tournament.

McGinty is currently placed 21st in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. On the season she averages a score of 74.33 per round, second best on the Buckeyes’ squad.

Women’s Hockey Sweeps Minnesota Duluth In Championship Rematch

The very team Ohio State beat to win its first ever women’s ice hockey national championship earlier this year fell twice to the Buckeyes over the weekend.

Minnesota Duluth came into OSU Ice Rink for a two-game set Friday and Saturday and was handed a pair of 3-2 losses, one in overtime, as the Buckeyes improved their record to 8-0 on the season.

Third-year forward Jenna Buglioni notched the game-winning goal in Friday’s contest with just 59 seconds remaining in overtime. It was her second goal of the action, with fourth-year forward Jennifer Gardiner scoring the other for Ohio State on a one-timer.

Another game-winner was required to topple the Bulldogs in game two, this time from third-year defenseman Riley Brengman. Ohio State dominated in the shot column 37-25 and also received scores from Gardiner and graduate forward Gabby Rosenthal.

Ohio State, ranked No. 1 in the country, has now won 18 games in a row dating back to last season.

Men’s Soccer Gets Senior Night Win

With a 2-1 win on senior night over Michigan State, the No. 13 Ohio State men’s soccer team is positioning itself well for the Big Ten tournament.

The Buckeyes raced out to a 2-0 lead by the time less than two minutes had passed in the second half and held on from there. Third-year midfielder Laurence Wootton and sophomore defender Nathan Demian tallied the two scores, the first career goal for Demian.

OSU now sits second in the Big Ten standings, and with the win over the Spartans, secured home field for the Big Ten tournament, which opens with quarterfinal play Nov. 4.
