Ohio State head coach Ryan Day confirmed Saturday following the team’s arrival in Arlington, Texas, that senior safety Lathan Ransom will be unavailable for the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl.

Day said that Ransom will be out, but that everyone else on the roster is healthy and present in Texas.

“As of right now, yeah,” Day said. “I don’t have any updates in that area. There’s nobody that will be out that would be new to you right now.”

Ransom has been out since suffering a lower-leg injury against Wisconsin on Oct. 28, and in his absence, the Buckeyes have turned to usual starters Josh Proctor and Sonny Styles at free safety and boundary safety, respectively, while junior cornerback Jordan Hancock has filled in at nickel.

Most of Ohio State’s draft-eligible players have already announced their intention to play, including wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive linemen Jack Sawyer and Tyleik Williams and offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, among others.

But one potential opt out that has yet to make a decision is junior wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. Day confirmed, though, that Harrison is in Texas with the team, though a decision has not be announce as to whether or not he will play.

“Everyone is going to be here,” Day said. “We have a team meeting tonight and may have an update on that later on. But right now, no updates on that.”
