With two five-stars at the position already committed for the class of 2024, Ohio State is trying to polish off another big class at wide receiver with one final piece.
Receivers coach Brian Hartline has fixed his gaze on one prospect in particular: St. Louis Christian Brothers four-star wideout Jeremiah McClellan (6-0, 190). Sunday, the Buckeyes made his top five.
McClellan is the No. 108 overall prospect in the country regardless of position in the 247Sports composite rankings, the No. 18 wide receiver and fourth-best recruit from Missouri.
Ohio State’s inclusion comes as little surprise, as it is considered among the leaders for McClellan’s recruitment. The Buckeyes were joined by Georgia, LSU, Missouri and Oregon.
McClellan took an official visit to Columbus June 9 and has also taken official trips to see LSU and Oregon.
“The best part of this visit was getting to talk with the players,” McClellan told On3 Sports. “Marvin Harrison, Emeka Egbuka, Brandon Inniss, Carnell Tate and Julian Humphrey all spent time with me. It was great to hear from them about the culture, what life is like there and how things are for the players.”
The Buckeyes currently sit second in the composite team rankings, trailing Georgia for first by a significant margin of 30 points (311.68 to 281.68) — though the Bulldogs have eight more commits. McClellan would help close that gap if he does join the team’s recruiting class.
