Ohio State junior cornerback Jordan Hancock announced on Wednesday that he is returning for his fourth and final season with the program.
“Breaking News,” Hancock wrote in a tweet. “Jordan Hancock will be returning for his senior year at Ohio State.”
Hancock appeared in just 12 games across his first two seasons with the Buckeyes but experienced a breakout year in 2023. Playing primarily at the nickel and outside cornerback position, Hancock displayed his versatility while also totaling 41 tackles (two for loss), two sacks, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and six pass deflections.
Hancock’s efforts this season were headlined by 93-yard pick-six against Rutgers on Nov. 4. With the Buckeyes trailing 9-7 in the third quarter and the Scarlet Knights threatening to score again, he hauled in a broken up pass from quarterback Gavin Wimsatt and streaked towards the sidelines for the game-changing score.
Hancock will now look to build off his successful junior season and take on an even larger role on Jim Knowles’ defense in 2023 as a senior, a unit that is returning many of its significant contributors such as fellow cornerback Denzel Burke, defensive end Jack Sawyer, linebacker Cody Simon, defensive tackles Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton and safety Lathan Ransom.
Hancock is also the third Buckeye to announce his return to the program on Wednesday, joining Burke and offensive lineman Donovan Jackson
