The 13th-ranked Ohio State men’s volleyball team (19-9, 11-3) clinched a share of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular-season championship on Saturday, picking up a 3-0 sweep over visiting No. 10 Loyola Chicago.
This is the first regular-season MIVA title for Ohio State since the 2018 season, and it marks the 28th regular-season championship in program history. The Buckeyes are sharing the title with Loyola Chicago and Ball State, all finishing with identical 11-3 records in conference play.
The win over Loyola Chicago – part of an eight-game winning streak for the Buckeyes – helped Ohio State secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MIVA Tournament, where it will host No. 6 Lindenwood at the Coveli Center at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. The Buckeyes split their regular-season series with Lindenwood, suffering a 3-2 loss at the Lions on Feb. 25 before returning the favor at home on March 24 with a 3-1 win.
The other top seeds in the tournament include No. 1 Ball State and No. 2 Loyola Chicago, winning out on tiebreakers. Semifinal matches will be hosted by the higher seeds on April 19, and the MIVA Championship will be held on April 22 at the highest remaining seed.
