Ohio State earned a surprise pledge on Tuesday afternoon when Southlake (Texas) Carroll 2026 four-star wide receiver Brock Boyd (6-1, 165) announced on Twitter that he was flipping his commitment from TCU to Ohio State.

“After many conversations and prayers, I would like to announce that I’m committing to Ohio State,” Boyd wrote. “Thank you TCU for all that you’ve provided for me. I enjoyed building relationships with the entire staff. Let’s get it!!”

Boyd, who originally committed to the Horned Frogs last July, is the nation’s 374th-best prospect, 58th-best wide receiver and 52nd-best player out of Texas in the 2026 class. He is coming off a strong junior season in which he caught 111 passes for 1,875 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding another 42 rushing yards and a score, all of which helped Soutlake Carroll — the school that also produced former OSU and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers — to a 15-1 record and Texas 6A D-II state championship game appearance.

He caught a title-game record 13 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown in Carroll’s 24-17 title game loss to Austin Vandegrift.

Ohio State was the first of many schools to offer Boyd while he was still holding a pledge to TCU, doing so on Jan. 28 before teams like California, Tennessee, Pitt, UNLV and Washington followed. And less than three months later wide receivers coach/co-offensive coordinator Brian Hartline and the Buckeyes have pulled off the flip, making him the third wideout pledge in the class alongside Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star Chris Henry Jr. (6-5, 205) and Pataskala (Ohio) Watkins Memorial four-star Jaeden Ricketts (6-0, 187).

Boyd is also Ohio State’s 11th commit overall in the 2026 class.
