Former Ohio State safety Josh Proctor was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent after not being chosen in the 2024 NFL Draft.

He is one of five Ohio State players who entered their name into the draft who didn’t hear their names called along with running back Miyan Williams, linebacker Steele Chambers, offensive lineman Matt Jones and wide receiver Xavier Johnson.

Proctor raised his stock in his last season at Ohio State with 47 tackles, four for a loss, nine passes defended and a pick six in the win over Maryland midway through the season. He had no more seasons of eligibility remaining after dealing with injuries throughout his college career, namely a broken leg in 2021.

He didn’t start for most of the next season when he returned, but earned his way back into the lineup in his final year and had the best season of his six he spent at Ohio State.

He will start with the Jaguars as a depth piece at safety, and playing time right away could be hard to come by as a later pick in the draft, but he provides some versatility being able to play whatever safety position he’s needed in, and he can defend sufficiently in the run game as well as the pass game.
