Former Ohio State Quarterbacks Coach Corey Dennis Hired As Analyst At Utah

Former Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis, who was expected to stay on staff following his demotion in January, has instead accepted a position as an analyst at Utah under head coach Kyle Wittingham.

Dennis, who will be an offensive analyst for the Utes, according to a report from Cleveland.com’s Nathan Baird, had been Ohio State’s quarterbacks coach since 2020 but was stripped of those responsibilities following the hiring of co-offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien last month. Dennis, the son-in-law of former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, had been with the Buckeyes since 2015, starting as an intern before working his way into a full-time assistant role under Ryan Day.

Following O’Brien’s hiring – which now appears up in the air with Boston College reportedly targeting O’Brien as head coach – a statement from Ohio State said it would like to transition Dennis into a “still-to-be-determined role with the program,” though that will not be the case as he departs after nine seasons at Ohio State.

While Whittingham has no connection to Ohio State’s current coaches, other than suffering a loss to the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl in 2021, he did serve as a defensive coordinator at Utah under Meyer from 2003-04 before taking over the program following Meyer’s departure to Florida.
