Former Ohio State Cornerback Ryan Turner Transferring To Boston College

Former Ohio State cornerback Ryan Turner announced Friday that he is transferring to Boston College to play head coach and former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

Turner, who arrived at Ohio State in the 2022 recruiting class, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Eagles. He appeared in five games with the Buckeyes – and redshirted his true freshman season – and totaled three tackles and a sack.

He was a four-star prospect out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Fla., but entered the transfer portal on Dec. 4 after struggling to find a role with the Buckeyes after being passed up on the depth chart by a pair of freshmen cornerbacks in Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Calvin Simpson-Hunt.

While Ohio State could lose junior cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock after this season, with both potential entrants into the NFL draft, the Buckeyes will still return Mathews and Simpson-Hunt in addition to starter Davison Igbinosun and backup Lorenzo Styles Jr., and are expected to sign three cornerbacks – Miles Lockhart, Aaron Scott and Bryce West – when the early signing period begins on Dec. 20.
