Ohio State is reportedly set to receive a visit this weekend from former Alabama center Seth McLaughlin, who entered the transfer portal following the Crimson Tide’s loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

McLaughlin has started 22 games over the last two seasons for Alabama, including all 14 games this season. He is a former three-star recruit in the 2020 class out of Buford, Ga., and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

While McLaughlin has been an anchor on Alabama’s offensive line over the last several years, even named to the watch list for the Rimington Award entering this season, he’s had several notable gaffes under center as of late, including several botched snaps in the Crimson Tide’s season-ending loss.

McLaughlin posted a 59.4 grade this season, according to Pro Football Focus, down from 74.3 in 2022 and 73.2 in 2021. While center could conceivably be a need for Ohio State considering Carson Hinzman’s benching ahead of the Cotton Bowl, McLaughlin could also slide over to guard for the Buckeyes.
