How He Did In High School: As a junior, Akih had an outstanding season. In 11 games, Akih ran for 1,653 yards and 15 touchdowns on 236 carries. He also added 142 receiving yards, nine catches and three receiving touchdowns.

Where He Fits For 2026: Akih is the only running back the Buckeyes signed in the 2026 class, and Ohio State has shown a willingness to utilize true freshman running backs, so he could earn playing time immediately. With standout freshman running back Bo Jackson likely returning next season, along with Isaiah West and James Peoples, Akih likely won’t be the feature back any time soon, but he should provide depth in the backfield.
