Get to know Westerville (Ohio) North four-star interior offensive lineman Jake Cook, who signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

Height, Weight: 6-5, 295

247Sports Composite Ranking: Cook is the nation’s 455th-best prospect, 30th-best interior offensive lineman and 16th-best player out of Ohio.

Commitment Date: Cook committed to Ohio State on June 23.

Other Offers: Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Duke, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Kentucky, NC State, Toledo, UNLV, West Virginia.

How He Did In High School: Cook showed his toughness his senior season when he suffered an ankle injury during Westerville North’s second game of the season that doctors said required four to five months of recovery, and instead played through the ailment all year while starting at left tackle for the Warriors. According to scouts, Cook has been an excellent team leader this season and has put in the work in the weight room to stand out with his physicality and also be a versatile piece on the line.

Where He Fits For 2024: Cook played left tackle this season at Westerville North but is expected to make the move to center once he arrives at Ohio State this offseason. This move could bode well for his chances at moving up the depth chart next season, as the only other likely players who will battle for the center job are Carson Hinzman and Joshua Padilla. Cook will still likely be behind those two once the 2025 season begins, but his hard-nosed, team-first mentality can quickly endear himself to both the coaching staff and fanbase.
