Ohio State saw six players taken during the 2023 NFL Draft, matching last year’s mark for the program.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud was the second overall pick to the Houston Texans and the second quarterback off the board behind Alabama’s Bryce Young, who was taken with the first pick by the Carolina Panthers.
With the selection, he becomes the highest-drafted quarterback in Ohio State history, surpassing former signal caller Art Schlichter, who was taken by the Baltimore Colts with the No. 4 pick in 1982.

It didn’t take long for offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. to come off the board, either, as the Arizona Cardinals traded up to select Johnson at No. 6, making it two Buckeyes among the top six selections.
Johnson’s selection at No. 6 makes him the highest-drafted offensive lineman from Ohio State since Orlando Pace was taken with the first pick in 1997.

While wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba had to wait longer than some predicted to hear his name called, he was eventually selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 20 overall pick.
Smith-Njigba was the first wide receiver taken in the draft and is the third first-round receiver for Ohio State over the last two drafts.

With three first-round selections, Ohio State was able to extend its lead for the most first-rounders ever taken from a college, with the Buckeyes now boasting 90 first-round draftees.
Defensive end Zach Harrison was the first Buckeye off the board on the second day of the draft, joining the Atlanta Falcons in the third round with the No. 75 overall selection.
Moving to the third day, former Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones – once rumored to be as high as a first-round pick – saw his stock slip a little bit before finally being scooped up by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round with the No. 111 overall pick.
Two rounds later – further along in the draft than projected by some – former Ohio State center Luke Wypler came off the board at pick 190 in the sixth round to the Cleveland Browns.
Safeties Ronnie Hickman and Tanner McCalister were both viewed as potential selections in the final rounds but went undrafted. It didn’t take long for them to find a home, though, as Hickman and McCalister signed with the Cleveland Browns as undrafted free agents shortly after the draft concluded.
Cornerback Cameron Brown has also signed as an undrafted free agent, inking a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, while defensive tackle Jerron Cage has signed as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints.
Other undrafted Buckeyes still hoping to sign a deal with a team include defensive tackle Taron Vincent, fullback/tight end Mitch Rossi and kicker Noah Ruggles.
