Ohio State’s latest commitment from four-star offensive lineman Davis Seaman was the fifth pledge the Buckeyes have gotten from an O-lineman in the 2027 class already.

For Seaman, it was the development that he sees happening in Columbus that convinced him that Ohio State was ultimately where he wanted to be.

“I just felt, especially after watching the draft, the development at Ohio State is just different,” Seaman told BSB. “I kind of felt like I was going to pick Ohio State eventually anyways, so I might as well just not wait.”

When he made the call to offensive line coach Tyler Bowen, Seaman said the second-year position coach was very happy to hear the news, as were others on the coaching staff as well.

“Coach Bowen always said he’d be really excited if I committed,” Seaman said. “Coach Bowen, Coach (Charlie) Dickey and Coach (Ryan) Day were all really excited that I finally pulled the trigger and committed.”

Playing his high school ball at Bishop Watterson in Columbus, Seaman is nearby and grew up an Ohio State fan, and that his entire family supports the Buckeyes. His proximity made it easy for him to visit the campus throughout the recruiting process.

So when he got to campus on his recruiting visits, he was already very familiar with the area. He also said that building relationships with the coaches on those visits was a valuable part of coming back so often.

“I’ve been there as a kid, so I feel like I know my way around, where I’m going,” Seaman said. “Every time I grow closer with the coaches, and relationships are what it’s all about, so that’s important to me.”

The recruiting visits weren’t the only time Seaman has been on campus. Being close by, he had made the trip and looked around, while also going to football games.

He said that his family tailgates most of the games and that the 2017 victory over Penn State when OSU scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to win 39-38 on the back of four passing touchdowns from J.T. Barrett is the game that sticks out the most in his memory that he has been to.

So when he finally got his offer from the Buckeyes on Oct. 5, it was an exciting day for both him and the rest of his family.

“It was definitely emotional. My whole family was probably more emotional than me,” he said. “It was pretty special for sure, because I had been waiting on that offer for a while.”

Now, Seaman is counting down the days until he gets to put on the scarlet and gray when he gets to campus.
