Marvin Harrison Jr. Named All-American By Sporting News, Now One Selection Away From Being Unanimous

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has been named a first-team All-American again, this time by Sporting News, making him one selection short of being a unanimous All-American for the second straight year.

Now that he has been named by The Athletic, CBS Sports, the Football Writers Association of America, Pro Football Focus and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, he only needs the American Football Coaches Association to decide he was a first-team All-American to become just the fifth in Ohio State history to be unanimous twice.

Theo other Buckeyes to do it were offensive tackle Orlando Pace (1995-96), running back Archie Griffin (1974-75), fullback Bob Ferguson (1960-61) and Howard “Hopalong” Cassidy (1954-55).

It’s likely that he will be unanimous, given he was named the 2023 Biletnikoff Award winner, given to the best pass catcher in college football, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, and finished fourth in the Heisman race.

No other Buckeyes were voted as an All-American by Sporting News, and Harrison is still the only Ohio State player to be first-team for any outlet.
