After announcing his decommitment from Texas back on Oct. 28, Southlake (Texas) Carroll five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers made the flip to Ohio State official, committing to the Buckeyes on Thursday.

Ewers is the top-rated quarterback and the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2022 class, via the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also ranked as the highest player overall in the 247Sports rankings.

With his commitment, Ewers will become the third-highest rated prospect to ever play at Ohio State, trailing only quarterback Justin Fields, who transferred in from Georgia, and quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

The 6-3, 195 pound Texas quarterback is coming off a ridiculous sophomore season, where he completed 72.4 percent of his throws for 4,003 yards and 45 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He also ran for 568 yards and nine scores.

Ewers has currently thrown for 1,221 yards, 15 touchdowns and two interceptions through four games of his junior season.

The Buckeyes now have an even stronger hold on the nation’s top class in 2022, which now has eight commitments. Ewers is the first quarterback commit for Ohio State in 2022, who also has Philadelphia St. Joseph’s five-star quarterback Kyle McCord committed for the 2021 class after bringing in both Jack Miller and C.J. Stroud in 2020.
