State Representative From Ohio Proposes Bill That Would Prevent Ohio State From Playing Noon Games

By May 15, 2025 (1:34 pm)Football

With the news revealed days ago that Fox will be televising Ohio State’s season opening matchup against Texas, meaning the game is likely to be a Big Noon kickoff, Ohio state representative Tex Fischer proposed a bill that would make it illegal for any prominent matchup to be scheduled at noon. The bill would exclude the game against Michigan at the end of the season.

In the proposed bill, no game that features a state university against an opponent ranked within the top 10 of the AP top 25 would be allowed to start before 3:30 p.m.

The punishment for broadcasting a Buckeye game before 3:30 p.m. would be a fine for either the Big Ten conference or the network that is broadcasting the marquee matchup.

The Buckeyes kicked off at noon six straight times to finish the 2024 regular season, which had some OSU fans upset that they weren’t being featured in primetime slots and getting the stadium environment that comes with night games.

The bill proposed by Fischer will likely not pass, but it shows the frustration that Buckeye fans have over the number of noon kickoffs they have watched Ohio State play in.
