Recruiting Outlook: Ohio State One Of Five Finalists For Five-Star O-Lineman, Two Buckeyes Take Massive Jump In Rivals 300 Rankings, Three-Star Receiver Sets Commitment Date

The Buckeyes are in position to add onto an already impressive offensive line class, as Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray included them in his top five schools. Gray, the No. 28-ranked recruit in the country, No. 2-ranked interior offensive lineman, and the No. 2-ranked player from Virginia, also included Clemson, LSU, South Carolina, and Tennessee in his list.

Even with Gray still deciding what school he wants to attend, Ohio State’s offensive line class is already better than some of its recent classes. The Buckeyes have top-150 offensive tackles like Avon Lake (Ohio) four-star Maxwell Riley (6-5, 280) and Akron, Archbishop Hoban four-star Sam Greer (6-8, 315) committed.

On the topic of Greer, the Archbishop Hoban product recently received a vote of confidence from the recruiting site Rivals. In their updated top 300 recruiting rankings, Rivals moved Greer up from No. 96 to No. 14, making him the highest-ranked Buckeye on their board.

Also receiving a major boost in Rivals’ update was fellow Buckeye pledge and Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star defensive end Khary Wilder (6-4, 260). Wilder wasn’t ranked in Rivals’ top-250 rankings but climbed all the way up to No. 38 after the update.

As a team, Ohio State ranked eighth in Rivals’ team recruiting rankings and was third in the Big Ten behind USC and Oregon.

The Buckeyes could see their standing improve in recruiting rankings if they can secure the commitment of Fort Wayne (Ind.) Northrop four-star Jerquaden Guilford, who is set to commit to a school at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Guilford, the No. 442-ranked overall player in the class of 2026, will seemingly choose from a list of schools that includes Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
