Ohio State and senior forward Puff Johnson received good news on Monday when a judge ruled that Johnson will be able to finish the season with the Buckeyes.
A Franklin County judge upheld the temporary restraining order that Johnson had against the NCAA which allowed the senior to join the OSU roster in January.
Johnson was initially denied a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA, prompting Johnson to sue the NCAA. The lawsuit was denied by a federal court but Johnson took the case to state court, where he received the temporary restraining order.
Johnson is coming off his first start for Ohio State with sophomore guard John Mobley Jr. and junior forward Devin Royal both out of the lineup for the loss to Michigan State on Sunday. Johnson had two points in 20 minutes of game time.
In seven games this season, Johnson is averaging 3.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. He is coming off a campaign with Penn State in which he averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.
The Buckeyes are hoping he can get back to that production since they have lacked help from the bench throughout the season, and now with the new ruling, Johnson will get the chance to contribute through the remaining four regular season games and any postseason games Ohio State plays in.
