Predictions: Buckeyes Run Away With Win In Camp Randall Against Wisconsin

By October 17, 2025 (3:00 pm)Football, Staff Predictions

Ohio State is looking to start the season 7-0 with a win over Wisconsin this weekens, going on the road to what has proven to be a tough environment to play in at Camp Randall Stadium.

Here’s how the BSB staff sees this game going:

Sam Cipriani: OSU Bludgeons UW In Camp Randall

Through six games, Wisconsin has yet to beat a single Power Four school and has lost each of its last four games by at least 14 points. The Badgers also are now down to their third string quarterback in senior Hunter Simmons, who has completed just 55.9% of his passes for just one touchdown and three interceptions.

Ohio State, on the other hand, is back at full strength after injuries to defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr. and cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. The Buckeyes, who are embarking on their third road contest in four weeks, seem to be hitting their stride midway through the season coming off back-to-back 18-point wins in Ohio State’s last two road contests against Washington and Illinois, as well as a 39-point blowout of Minnesota at home in between the away games.

With Ohio State addressing its minor weaknesses and hitting its stride as the season progresses, while Wisconsin’s program continues to show growing cracks, the game is likely to get very ugly at Camp Randall.

Bobby Gorbett: Buckeyes Blast Badgers

While Ohio State has looked like the best team in college football in the 2025 season, Wisconsin has looked like one of the biggest disappointments. The Badgers weren’t thought of as national championship contenders before the season, but few would have expected them to struggle as much as they have so far this season.

Not only have the Badgers suffered four straight losses, but six days before their clash against the Buckeyes, they were humiliated at home 37-0 by Iowa.

While I predict Wisconsin will come out on Saturday with plenty of urgency, I don’t think the game will be close.

The Badgers have really struggled to move the ball with any consistency this season, and I see their offensive issues only being heightened against arguably the best defense in the country. I think Ohio State will not only be able to get Wisconsin off the field early and often, but will also be able to force a turnover or two to give the offense a short field.

Wisconsin’s defense is much better than its offense and should be able to force some stops. Still, I see redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin having a big day throwing the ball. I think Sayin will get several receivers involved, including slot receiver Brandon Inniss, as Ohio State coasts to another dominant Big Ten win.

Greg Wilson: Ohio State Cruises To Easy Win Over Badgers

There’s no reason to believe that Wisconsin can compete with the Buckeyes for a full 60 minutes. There’s also no reason to believe that the Buckeyes will change the approach they have had all season.

Ryan Day is obviously trying to keep his players fresh for the long season still ahead of them, and the offense has been working very slowly, even in games the Buckeyes have won big. There have been many games they could have probably put a few more points on the board, but they have been content to win without them.

I don’t expect it, but I can envision a scenario in which Ohio State gets down into the red zone on a few of its first drives and has to settle for field goals and this game looks much closer than it feels late into the second quarter.

But even if that happens, the defense will surely hold Wisconsin’s offense as much as is necessary to give the Buckeyes offense a comfortable amount of time to pull away. I’m not sure off the top of my head when the last time Ohio State shut out a Big Ten team was, but I am preparing myself to have to look that information up this weekend.

I like to predict a couple of touchdowns, so I’ll go with the obvious one of Jeremiah Smith continuing his streak of scoring, but I’ll also predict freshman Isaiah West getting a carry, maybe later in the game, to score his second rushing touchdown of the season.
