
Pistol Wins National Championship For Sixth Season In A Row
For the sixth straight season, Ohio State’s pistol team captured a national championship.
The Buckeyes achieved their seventh overall title since 2018, extending their dynasty under head coach Emil Milev with another dominant performance at the 2026 Pistol National Championships on March 29 in Columbia, Missouri.
The Buckeyes ran away with the team title by 330 points, finishing with an aggregate score of 6,716 and finishing well ahead of Army (6,386), Navy (6,310), MIT (6,239) and Utah (6,234), who rounded out the top five.
Ohio State placed the top eight shooters in the overall individual aggregate, led by junior Ada Korkhin, who posted a 1,685. She was followed closely by sophomores Marcus Klemp (1,679) and Blaine Simpson (1,677), while senior Johnathan Dorsten, freshman Ankita Deokule, sophomore Evan Langerak, junior Riya Salian and sophomore Maral Gantsooj rounded out the top eight.
In the air pistol competition, Ohio State won the team competition with 2,255 points, with Korkhin, Klemp, Salian, and Simpson all finishing inside the top five individually.
In sport pistol, the Buckeyes were even more dominant, sweeping the top eight spots, with Deokule leading the way with a 581, followed by Korkhin and Dorsten.
Ohio State capped its performance in the standard pistol event by taking the top nine places, led by junior Abbie Leverett, who finished just ahead of Simpson and Gantsook.
Softball Defeats Bowling Green In Eight Innings To Increase Win Streak To Six
Ohio State dominated Bowling Green (15-15, 3-6 MAC) in its midweek contest, with six home runs fueling an 18-7 win in five innings for the Buckeyes’ sixth straight victory on Tuesday at Buckeye Field.
Bowling Green opened the matchup with two runs in the first inning, before Ohio State began its offensive onslaught. With the bases loaded, outfielder Taylor Cruse hit a single to shortstop, scoring outfielder Hadley Parisien. Two batters later, catcher Emma Tolley smashed a grand slam to center field, to give the Buckeyes an early 5-2 lead over the Falcons.
The Buckeyes continued to put the offensive pressure on in the second inning as infielder Sami Bewick sent a double to right-center field to score Parisien to increase the Ohio State advantage to four. Tolley then singled to left field to score Bewick, to add onto the Buckeyes’ lead at 7-2, before infielder Lottie Landmesser smashed a three-run homer to right field to give Ohio State an eight-run lead after two innings.
Ohio State continued its home run barrage in the third inning as infielder Sara Tarr and Parisien hit back-to-back solo shots to left-center field, extending the Buckeyes’ lead to 12-2.
The Falcons added three runs at the top of the fourth inning, the first two coming on a triple from infielder Hannah Hunt that scored shortstop Cameron Kaufman and infielder Taylor Behrendt, before third baseman Addie Martin hit a single to score HUNT and cut into Ohio State’s lead at 12-5.
Tarr and Parisien responded immediately in the bottom of the inning for the Buckeyes, driving in back-to-back homers for the second time of the outing. This time, Tarr hammered a three-run shot to left field, while Parisien sent a solo home run to center field to give Ohio State a 16-5 lead. The Buckeyes added two more runs on RBI-singles from infielder Kailea Ricks and outfielder Izzy Neal.
While Bowling Green attempted to mount a comeback with two runs in the top of the fifth, it was too late as Ohio State secured an 18-7 run rule in five innings.
Parisien, Tolley, Tarr and utility Skylar Limon each had two hits for Ohio State. Tolley led the Buckeyes with four RBIs, while Parisien scored five times.
Buckeyes Senior right-hander Kennedy Kay (3-4) earned the win, recording two strikeouts while allowing two earned runs across two innings, while sophomore Lorin Boutte made the start, tallying four strikeouts and giving up two earned runs.
Ohio State (16-18, 5-4 Big Ten) will look to continue its hot streak when the Buckeyes take on Minnesota (13-21, 5-4 Big Ten) for a three-game series at 5 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
Women’s Tennis Earns Third Straight Sweep Against Maryland
No. 4 Ohio State women’s tennis finished off its strong week with a dominant 4-0 victory over Maryland (12-4, 4-3 Big Ten) on Sunday at the Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus.
Ohio State set the tone early by securing the doubles point. The Buckeyes pair of No. 84 Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson rolled to a 6-0 win over Maryland’s Ema Kovacevic and Magdalena Baniak on court two, while Ohio State’s Audrey Spencer and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev followed with a 6-3 victory over the Terrapins Oliwia Orlinska and Aida Eissa on court three to clinch the doubles point.
The Buckeyes then carried that momentum into singles competition. Cisse-Ignatiev earned the first singles point for Ohio State with a straight-sets win, 6-3, 6-2, over Baniak on court three. No. 86 Nao Nishino followed with a commanding 7-5, 6-0 victory against Diya Challa on court four. No. 100 Spencer ultimately sealed the match on court five, battling Maryland’s Lucia Donnelly to a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win to clinch the 4-0 sweep.
Ohio State’s 4-0 victory over Maryland marked the third Buckeye sweep in an eight-day span.
Ohio State (14-3, 6-1 Big Ten) will hit the road on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan (10-5, 7-1 Big Ten) at Hutchins Stadium.
Men’s Tennis Improves Win Streak To Five With Sweep Over Northwestern
No. 2 Ohio State men’s tennis capped off a dominant weekend with a 5-0 sweep of Northwestern (13-10, 1-7 Big Ten) on Sunday at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus.
Ohio State opened the match by securing the doubles point. No. 28 Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima opened with a 6-3 win on court two over Northwestern’s Ethan Schiffman and Cyrus Mahjoob, while No. 17 Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo followed with a 6-4 victory over the Wildcats’ Owen Megargee and Cooper Han on court three to clinch the point.
The Buckeyes No. 85 Nikita Filin earned the first singles point with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory over Schiffman on court four. Ohio State Loren Byers followed on court five with a 6-1, 6-1 crushing of Han, marking the graduate’s 100th collegiate win and extending Ohio State’s lead to 3-0.
Ohio State’s No. 27 Jack Anthrop sealed the team victory with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 performance over the Wildcats’ Mahjoob on court two.
Shortly after, No. 9 Kim added another straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 over Northwestern’ s Carter Pate to complete the sweep.
The Buckeyes also secured a ranked win earlier in the weekend, defeating No. 14 Illinois, 5-2, on Friday.
Next up, Ohio State (19-3, 6-1 Big Ten) will travel to the West Coast for matchups against UCLA (12-4, 6-1 Big Ten) on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Center and USC (13-5, 5-2 Big Ten) on Sunday at 4 p.m. David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
