Former Ohio University tight end Mason Williams has committed to Ohio State, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Williams brought in 48 passes for 565 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons with the Bobcats.

As a redshirt sophomore at Ohio, Williams tallied 26 receptions for 276 yards and three touchdowns, earning Third-team All-MAC honors.

Williams signed with Ohio in the class of 2023 as a three-star prospect out of Mogadore (Ohio) High School. The 6-5, 257-pound tight end ranked as No. 1,804 overall prospect and the No. 77 tight end in the class, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

It marks the second Ohio tight end Ohio State has gotten in the transfer portal in three seasons, as Will Kacmarek transferred from the Bobcats to the Buckeyes prior to the 2024-25 season.

The addition of Williams marks Ohio State’s first transfer of the offseason and helps replenish a tight end room that saw Jelani Thurman enter the transfer portal, Kacmarek exhaust his eligibility, and Klare potentially declare for the draft.
