Ohio State women’s hockey coach Nadine Muzerall is set to be in Columbus for the long haul. The leader of the Buckeyes’ decorated women’s hockey program signed a five-year extension with Ohio State, athletic director Ross Bjork announced on Thursday.

“There is one person to lead Ohio State women’s hockey,” Bjork wrote in a tweet. “Happy to announce Nadine Muzerall will be in Columbus for a long time to come with a new 5-year contract. She hasn’t just coached a team;  she’s built a powerhouse on & off the ice. Let’s go win it ALL this weekend.”

The announcement comes just a day before Ohio State is set to play in the Frozen Four against Northeastern (4 p.m., ESPN +). The Buckeyes are looking for their third national championship since 2021-22. Under Muzerall, they have won a pair of WCHA regular season championships, and this year, they captured their third WCHA Tournament.

Under Muzerall, Ohio State has a record of 224-81-2. The Buckeyes have faced stiff competition from Wisconsin for supremacy in the WCHA and in the sport in general. Ohio State has matched up against the Badgers in the national championship in each of the last three seasons.

The Buckeyes and Badgers could match up for the fourth year in a row in the national championship game, as each team made the Frozen Four.
