Following Ohio State’s 31-0 shutout of Wisconsin Oct. 18, Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate received a special gift in the mail Friday for his standout catch in the game.
Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Randy Moss — who hosts the “You Got Mossed” segment on Monday Night Countdown and Sunday NFL Countdown showcasing the best jump-ball skills in all of football — gifted Tate a pair of custom receiver gloves printed with the segment’s slogan and signed by Moss himself.
During the wide receivers film study, offensive coordinator Brian Hartline showed his receiver room Tate’s highlight before surprising the Chicago native with the gloves.
Just under nine minutes into the first quarter Ohio State was backed up on third-and-11 before quarterback Julian Sayin unleashed a 33-yard bomb to Tate, who went up and over two Wisconsin defenders in the back of the end zone to secure the touchdown catch.
Tate’s spectacular grab wasn’t his only highlight of the day, as the 6-3, 195 pound wideout caught six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Through seven games, Tate has amassed 34 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns. His six scores already surpassed his career-high, while he is on pace to smash his previous bests for catches and receiving yards in a year.
