Ohio State Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith Says He’s Not Going Anywhere

By January 7, 2026 (9:38 am)Football

Amid speculation that Ohio State star wideout Jeremiah Smith could enter the transfer portal following a disappointing end to his sophomore campaign, Smith shut down rumors of his departure.

Following the losses of multiple Ohio State receivers, including Quincy Porter, Mylan Graham, and Bryson Rodgers to the transfer portal, and Carnell Tate declaring for the NFL draft, Smith took to Twitter to announce that he’s not going anywhere.

However, this isn’t a full confirmation that Smith is planning to stay at Ohio State, as the transfer portal doesn’t close until Jan. 16. Nevertheless, it certainly is a sigh of relief for fans anticipating the wide receiver’s return.

In two seasons with Ohio State, the 6-3, 223-pound Smith has racked up 163 catches for 2,558 yards and 27 passing touchdowns, as well as nine carries for 68 yards and two rushing scores.

Smith now sits just 42 catches, 310 yards and eight receiving touchdowns away from surpassing Ohio Stateโ€™s all-time receiving benchmarks of 205 receptions and 2,868 yards set by Emeka Egbuka, along with the program-record 35 receiving touchdowns earned by Chris Olave.
