The second annual Coretta Scott King Classic will feature Ohio State. The Buckeyes will take on TCU at noon on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 19).

“I’m deeply honored to announce our participation in the 2026 Coretta Scott King Classic,” Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff said in a press release on Tuesday. “This event is a powerful celebration of Coretta Scott King’s enduring legacy as a champion for equality, justice and empowerment. It is a privilege for our team to compete in an event that not only showcases the strength and talent of women’s basketball but also pays tribute to Mrs. King’s profound impact on our society.”

The Coretta Scott King Classic is an event that honors the legacy of the woman it is named after, the late civil rights activist and wife of Martin Luther King Jr.

“The Coretta Scott King Classic is a testament to the enduring power of my mother’s legacy,” Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of Coretta Scott King and CEO of The King Center, said. “She believed deeply in the transformative nature of education and public engagement, and this event continues to bring that vision to life for a new generation of athletes, fans and leaders.”

The event, which will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will also feature a game at 2 p.m. between Michigan and Vanderbilt. Both games will be featured on Fox.

The Horned Frogs are coming off of perhaps the best season in program history after winning the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships and making it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. Although it is replacing star players like Haley Van Lith and Sedona Prince, TCU should have another solid team next year after adding All-American guard Olivia Miles out of the transfer portal.
