Ohio State is still the No. 1 team in the country, according to the Associated Press’s latest top 25 poll released on Sunday. The Buckeyes received 55 first-place votes in the poll, after their 37-9 win over Ohio on Saturday.
No. 2 Penn State, coming off a 52-6 win over Villanova in Week 3, received 5 first-place votes in the poll. The only other teams to receive first-place votes were No. 3 LSU (2 votes), No. 4 Miami (3 votes) and No. 6 Oregon (1 vote).
No. 5 Georgia was the only team ranked inside the top-6 to not receive a first-place vote.
The Big Ten had four other teams ranked inside the top 25, including No. 9 Illinois, No. 19 Indiana, No. 21 Michigan and No. 25 USC. The Trojans jumped into the rankings after they defeated Purdue 33-17 in their Big Ten opener.
The biggest riser in the rankings was No. 10 Texas A&M. The Aggies jumped up six spots in the poll after narrowly defeating Notre Dame 41-40. The Fighting Irish were previously ranked at No. 8 in the poll, but fell 16 spots in the rankings to No. 24 because of their loss. Notre Dame also lost its season-opener to Miami 27-24 and is the only ranked team without a win.
The Trojans were one of three new teams in the poll. No. 19 Georgia Tech, coming off a 24-21 win over Clemson, and No. 20 Vanderbilt, which defeated South Carolina 31-7 on Saturday, were also included in the rankings.
South Carolina, previously ranked at No. 11, was dropped from the rankings, as were Clemson and South Florida.
