Ohio State senior safety Keenan Nelson Jr. is entering the transfer portal, according to reports. Nelson was with the Buckeyes for two seasons after transferring into Columbus from South Carolina.

Nelson gained the bulk of his playing time with the Buckeyes as a special teamer in 2024. On the national championship-winning team, Nelson played in 12 games, including playoff games against Tennessee and Oregon. He then played in just six games this season.

Nelson, a backup at safety, didn’t record a stat during his two years with the Buckeyes. During two seasons at South Carolina, though, Nelson went for a combined 13 total tackles.

Out of St. Joseph’s Prep., Nelson was ranked as a four-star prospect. He was the No. 221 player in the country, the No. 17 safety and the No. 6 player from Pennsylvania.

Nelson is the first safety and third defensive back to transfer from Ohio State this season.
