It seems that Ohio State will have a new starting right guard for the 2026 season, with Tegra Tshabola entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.
Tshabola was the starting right guard for Ohio State for the last two seasons, helping an injured offensive line win the national championship in the 2024 season and starting in 13 of 14 games this season.
Many times this season, Tshabola was involved in a rotation at right guard with Josh Padilla or Gabe VanSickle
Tshabola was out of the Cotton Bowl loss to Miami with an injury of his own after being replaced in the Big Ten championship in a loss to Indiana. Quarterback Julian Sayin was sacked five times in both of those games after being brought down just six times the entire 12-game regular season.
While Tshabola started over the last two seasons, he faced some struggles in both years, but he was able to hold on to that starting role until his recent injury. Now he will try to find a new program to start with for his final season of eligibility.
As the top-rated offensive lineman in the state of Ohio in the 2022 class, Tshabola came to Ohio State out of Lakota West High School as a four-star prospect after moving to Ohio from the Democratic Republic of Congo when he was young.
Tshabola redshirted as a true freshman at Ohio State and played in 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, though he wasn’t one of the starting five on the line, mainly getting in on special teams.
As a two-year starter at one of the top programs in the country, Tshabola will likely garner a lot of attention in the transfer portal.
