Ohio State linebacker Riley Pettijohn became an “official member” of the team on Tuesday when he had his black stripe removed.
Pettijohn was a highly recruited player out of high school as the No. 42-ranked recruit out of the 2024 class, No. 2 linebacker and No. 11 player out of Texas. Likely sitting behind more experienced linebackers like Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese in the depth chart, Pettijohn is a long shot to start early in the season, but he could make an impact on special teams and as a backup player late in games.
Pettijohn, a native of McKinney, Texas, was selected to play in the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl after an impressive senior season in high school.
Pettijohn joins receiver Quincy Porter Jr. as one of two members of Ohio State’s 2025 freshman class to have their black stripes removed, and, so far, Pettijohn is the first player this year to have his black stripe removed during fall camp.
