Ohio State Hands Out Several Offers After Midweek Recruiting Camps

By June 11, 2025 (5:20 pm)Football

June is typically a busy month for recruiting in college football, and that was no different at Ohio State this week. The Buckeyes hosted three consecutive recruiting camps from Monday-Wednesday, and with competition between some of the country’s top prospects high, several players earned scholarship offers from the school due to their strong play.

Perhaps the most notable offer came after Wednesday’s camp when Lewisville, Texas four-star cornerback Taelyn Mayo (6-4, 185) played himself into a scholarship with a strong performance.

The nation’s 123rd-ranked prospect, 14th-best cornerback and 22nd-best player out of Texas in the 2027 class impressed media and coaches all day at the camp with his elite coverage skills and speed, both of which were most notably put on display during the one-on-one competitions where he had great coverage on several of the wide receivers he went up against.

Ohio State was the 27th school to hand Mayo an offer, a list that also includes his home state Longhorns as well as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Oregon and Texas A&M.

Also receiving an offer on Wednesday was Loganville (Ga.) Grayson three-star defensive lineman Waylon Wooten (6-2, 300). Wooton is the nation’s 378th-best prospect, 40th-best defensive lineman and 45th-best player out of Georgia in the 2027 class, and he holds 26 offers from many of the several schools listed above.

Wooton was the second Georgia 2027 product offered by the Buckeyes after Wednesday’s camp, with Macon (Ga.) Howard five-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole (6-2, 185) also earning a scholarship. Poole, the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 safety in the class, also had a strong showing in camp and holds 13 offers from schools such as Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Missouri and Tennessee.

Seven players walked away with offers on Monday, a group that is headlined by Lawrenceville (N.J.) The Lawrenceville School four-star athlete Colt Lumpris (6-5, 210).

Lumpris is the nation’s 294th-best prospect, 14th-best athlete and eighth-best player out of New Jersey, and he holds offers from 20 schools including Alabama, Duke, Florida State, Michigan and Ole Miss.

Joining Lumpris on the offer list from Monday was fellow New Jersey 2027 tight end JT Geraci (6-5, 230) of Ramsey Don Bosco Prep, Broken Arrow, Okla., three-star safety Bryson Brown (5-10, 175), Jenks, Okla., four-star safety Semaj Stanford (5-11, 180), Hermitage (Penn.) Hickory running back Kelvin Morrison (5-11, 175), Norco, Calif., three-star wide receiver Blake Wong (6-1, 170) and Raleigh (N.C.) Cardinal Gibbons linebacker Sylar Alston (6-2, 210).

Four players picked up offers during the team’s first recruiting camp held on Friday, while one earned a scholarship during the weekend. That player was Ruston, La., five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson (6-7, 230), who camped with the Buckeyes on Monday. Hudson, the nation’s top-rated tight end and No. 12 player in the country in the class, caught 41 passes for 718 yards and six touchdowns last season for Ruston. He is also a star basketball player, averaging over 21 points and 14 rebounds per game in 2024-25.

Ohio State will hold another camp on Thursday before ending the camp season on Tuesday.
