After two seasons with Ohio State, guard Taison Chatman is entering the transfer portal, according to multiple sources.

The 6-4, 190-pound guard had a rollercoaster of a career with Ohio State and struggled with injuries throughout his time in Columbus. Chatman played in just 17 games as a freshman, averaging 1.0 points and 0.5 rebounds in 4.2 minutes while battling lower-body injuries.

Chatman then tore his ACL the following summer, missing the entire 2024-25 season with a medical redshirt.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2025-26, Chatman averaged 4.3 points, while shooting 46.0 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from three-point range in 13 minutes per game, emerging as Ohio State’s No. 3 guard, behind starters Bruce Thornton and John Mobley Jr.

Despite his strongest regular season to date, Chatman and Ohio State ended the season on a sour note. Chatman went scoreless in the Big Ten Tournament, missed the quarterfinals with an injury and was held scoreless in the NCAA Tournament loss to TCU.

A product of Totino-Grace in Minneapolis, Chatman was the No. 39 overall recruit in the class of 2023, ranking as the No. 8 combo guard and the top prospect in the state of Minnesota.

Chatman is now the third Buckeye to have entered the transfer portal this offseason, joining forwards Devin Royal and Colin White, and guard Gabe Cupps. The transfer portal will officially open nationally on Tuesday.

Rising sophomore forward Amare Bynum has already announced his intention to return to Ohio State and while Mobley declared for the draft, he will maintain his eligibility if he remains in college.
