Ohio State made another addition to its 2026 class in the weeks leading up to official National Signing Day, with kicker Cooper Peterson committing to the Buckeyes on Friday. He is the only kicker in the class for the Buckeyes.

Out of Charlotte (N.C.) Corvian Community, Peterson is unranked by 247Sports composite and held an offer from Michigan State, according to the site. He told 247Sports in September that he practices from 60 yards often and is “good from 55 to 60 yards.”

He took a visit to Ohio State in September for the win over Ohio on Sept. 13.

In his senior season, Peterson made 8 of 9 field goals with a long of 54 yards. He also punted for his team, with an average of 47.3 yards per boot, according to MaxPreps.

He’s the second kicker to pledge to the Buckeyes over the offseason, with former Baylor kicker Connor Hawkins joining Ohio State through the transfer portal.
