New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was named offensive rookie of the month after multiple strong performances throughout November.
Following Patriots starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson toe injury in New England’s final game of October, Henderson has since taken over the backfield.
Henderson racked up half of his season total rushing yards in just four games in November, earning 330 yards on the ground, while tacking on 13 receptions for 81 yards. The former Buckeye’s month was highlighted by a 14-carry, career-high 147 yard and two touchdown performance in New England’s 28-23 win over Tampa Bay. Henderson also combined for 93 rushing and receiving yards as well as three total touchdowns against the New York Jets the following week.
Overall this season Henderson has taken 129 carries for 625 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. The first-year back has also added 32 catches for 199 yards and one receiving score.
Henderson became the second former Buckeye in a three month stretch to be named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie Of The Month, joining wide receiver Emeka Egbuka who earned the honors in September.
Henderson has helped New England, who started just 1-2 to 10 straight wins and an 11-2 start. It marked the Patriots best start to the season since 2016, when New England finished 14-2 before marching through the playoffs to claim the Super Bowl LI over the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime.
